Mortgage Operations Manager
Supervise and manage processing personnel and their workflow, ensuring high morale, excellent customer service and maximum volume and profits.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and manage processing staff.
Handle issues with borrowers, team members and Home Loan Advisors.
Manage day-to-day operations including originating, processing and closing FHA, VA and Conventional loans.
Interview, test and hire processing associates. Provide coaching and promote a professional team effort. Conduct new hire orientation, performance planning and reviews, disciplinary actions and terminations.
Provide support for problem solving. Create an interface with lenders, escrow, division escrow coordinators, Home Loan Advisors and disperse necessary information to staff.
Participate in company’s strategic planning as directed by manager.
Set goals and objectives for processing staff that are measurable, achievable and in line with the company’s mission.
Lead and direct processing associates in the implementation of new programs and systems.
Oversee the preparation and distribution of all borrowers’ loan status information to mortgage staff, Home Loan Advisors and escrow coordinators on a weekly basis.
Ensure department maintains a pipeline of loans with an emphasis on customer service, quality, accuracy and efficiency. Learn and maintain knowledge of different loan programs and corresponding computer system codes.
Communicate with Processing Center Manager on training needs and issues.
Create and maintain tracking systems for closing dates, lock-in, revenue collections and funding schedules.
Attend status meetings and special functions.
Maintain status of all loans from application through approval, including pre-qualification, preliminary underwriting and closing of approved loans on automated system.
Responsible for regulatory compliance and quality control.
Remain current with our Broker programs and maintain their forms for submission.
Keep current with investor guideline changes by reading updated bulletins and communicate the same to the Home Loan Advisors and others as needed.
Keep processors current with changes in investor and agency guidelines.
Education and Experience Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 5-7 years of loan processing experience or equivalent mortgage background
Minimum 5-7 years supervisory and management experience in the mortgage and lending industry (originating, processing, closing and underwriting of FHA/VA/Conventional loans.
Automated processing and closing experience
Ability to study independently
Successful completion of Core Curriculum Customer Care Empowerment, Doc Basics, FHA, VA, Self Employed, MortgageWare, Credit Counseling and Compliance. Or successful completion of Introduction to Mortgage Banking, Mortgage Loan Origination, Processing the Loan, Conventional Loan Processing, Mortgage Loan Underwriting, Underwriting the Self-employed Borrower, Closing, Shipping & Warehousing, Creation & Form of a Mortgage and Residential Secondary Marketing
Attention to detail
Knowledge of office procedures
Current knowledge of closing and title requirements
Current knowledge of loan processing and automated underwriting systems
Current knowledge of FHLMC/FNMA/FHA/VA and industry underwriting guidelines
Current knowledge of self employed borrowers, partnership and corporation tax return analysis
Strong computer background with 2 to 3 years experience in mortgage software and working knowledge of Word for Windows and Excel.
Strong operations background.
Valid driver’s license
Regular interaction with prospective home buyers, lender representatives, underwriters, escrow and title personnel, credit bureaus and appraisers. .
Requires the ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, copier, climb stairs, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry materials and supplies weighing 20 pounds or less. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard.
